"Life is all about making choices & following one's dreams."
IIT-Global is an Early Morning Dream come true.

It was summer 2002, I was in UK enjoying a long holiday at my sisters in Lowestoft, Suffolk. Perhaps was the best holiday of my life as I watched and enjoyed every single World Cup Soccer Match and after ages I even attended all five days of a Cricket Test Match between England & India at Trent Bridge. While basking in the love and care of my older sister, I was also recuperating from a laser surgery which prevented me from taking the long flight back to Sydney for atleast six weeks. making it an extended holiday

If we are not zillionaires to make major financial contributions to IIT's or to Mother India, I am confident & certain that as a large group we IITian's can all make some reasonable contribution collectively. I always believe in " It is Little Drops that make a Big Ocean ".

I had one ton of time on my hands, having seen too many castles and cathedrals I did not wish to see any more stained glass windows or tombs of saints.

When there was not much to do after feeding the fish in the pond, going for long walks and cooking I was on the Internet communicating with all my long lost friends through the IITM yahoo groups that had been set up by my good friend Raj Varadrajan of Madras IIT.

I have never enjoyed anything more in life like connecting with fellows I had lost contact with for 30 odd years. It was as if not a day had passed and we rejoiced over memories, stories and gossip of yester years.

I was acutely aware that I was connected to only my batchmates and wondered about so many seniors and juniors whom I had bonded with on campus. However there were about 45 IITMAA Batches that denied access unless you belonged

IITMAA had created one special yahoo group where the moderators from all 45 groups were made members with the sole purpose of conveying important messages from the moderators group to our own groups. I became a moderator for my class as well as Australia New Zealand IITM egroups.

I am sure this desire to connect with some seniors was working on my subconscious mind.

I went to sleep after seeing Lagaan on DVD and woke up next morning with the IIT-Global Dream. I asked my sis for her opinion and she thought I was crazy. The same day I ended up sending messages to some very close and trusted IIT friends and the majority said "Go ahead and do it , what have you got to lose."

I set up my first IIT-Global Yahoo group on 23rd July 2002.

That was the beginning of IIT-Global Adventures...............

IIT Global comes out of a simple desire to connect with other IIT Alumni.

It was indeed a special feeling to write to my senior at college whom I truly admired, a few years senior to me and the recipient of the Presidents Gold Medal , no one other than Gurucharan Singh Sidhu. I was in 3rd year and my Austin A40 would not start and we fellows had run out of ideas. Sidhu comes back from classes on his push bike and looks under the bonnet and the magic fingers had the vehicle started in no time. Juniors would queue up to listen to Sidhu in the corridor opposite his room when he took a break from his studies. He was full of Wisdom. This would explain why Apple desk top publishing is preferred by professional journalists as Sidhu was the master mind at Apple.

In the early days IIT Global had brought me into contact with so many champions like Ashok Jhunjhunwala, Elizabeth Alexander, B.K.Syngal, Dr.Sharma and Pramendra Shrivatsava and many many more like minded people whom I had never met, from IIT's other than Madras IIT, all with a dream to give back something to IIT's and India in general.

IIT-Global is here to facilitate this effort to collect little drops and to provide a level platform for open discussion and networking, without any strings attached .

Then out of the blue came Ravi Challu, telling me he is the Ex-President of IIT-Kanpur Alumni association and that he is keen on helping. I must thank Ashok JhunJhunwala for helping me establish contact with Ravi as they are both class mates from 1975 Batch at Kanpur.

In more recent times I have been inspired to carry on with IIT Global Dreams with young turks like Gaurav Vaish, Barun Kumar, Atif Hussain, Rishi Dhingra, Sanjay Yadav and many other IItians who are involved in the FREE On line JEE Coaching as well as moderation of about fourteen sub groups that are currently active.

Rest assured that this dream is not driven by any ego or the mighty dollar and there are no hidden agendas. It is just a facility for all IITians to connect and network.

Please help IIT-Global Grow and Please help keep it clean and friendly.
